The Ocean Is Wearing My Clothes: Student Stories and Poems

During the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Writers in the Schools (WITS) volunteered in emergency shelters, using creative writing to offer a safe harbor for children to become the heroes of their own stories. Witnessing the healing power of storytelling, WITS established an emergency fund to expand their work, reaching students in schools and community sites displaced by the storm. Often omitted from conversations, these student pieces reflect the impact of the storm on the unheard.
