My son Sam and his friends spent several days after the flood helping neighbors gut their houses. Eventually they worked up the nerve to ask our neighbor, Brian Peters of the Houston Texans, if he needed help lifting furniture.

Flood waters receded enough for us to drive over the bridge, but exposed debris left from Brays Bayou remains.

When the water inside our house became too deep for our dog Jed to stand, we put him on this air mattress. We evacuated our house with Jed on the mattress and carried him around on it for six hours while we tried to reach our destination.
